Motivational Quotes for Effective Leadership Part 4

SUCCESS

• SUCCESS MEANS HELPING OTHERS

Success is knowing God and what He wants for you; Becoming as good as you can be and doing things that helps others.

• SUCCESS IS NOT AN ACCIDENT, IT’S NOT FATE OR FATE

It’s predetermined. Success is worthwhile. Nothing is successful that does not contribute in a positive way to help people. Success is continual. It’s not an event but a journey, an ongoing process. It’s not an accolade that we receive in a race won or job well done. Success is the positive result of steady forward movement.

• SELF IMAGE, HOW I SEE MYSELF

It is impossible to perform consistently in a manner inconsistent with the way we see ourselves. In other words, we usually act in direct response to our self-image. Nothing is more difficult to accomplish than changing outward actions without changing inward feelings. One of the best ways to improve those inward feelings is to put some ‘success’ under your belt.

• SUCCESS IS AN EVENT

If you have this mindset, you are constantly looking for that milestone event, a powerful conference, a key decision, an important meeting, the attainment of a specific title, that is going to be the turning point in your quest for success. Unfortunately, success doesn’t hinge on any one event or place; it’s a growth process, a journey.

• SUCCESS EQUALS HARD WORK

This is the theory that says’ ‘The early bird gets the worm, and if you want to be successful, all you have to do is work your tail off from sun up to sun down’. This idea looks good on papers, but it doesn’t always pan out in real life. I firmly believe in the virtue of hard work, but I also know lots of every hard workers who haven’t been very successful.

• SUCCESS IS IN THE FUTURE

It’s one thing to be optimistic about the future. But it’s another thing entirely to think that, if you’re patient, you’re just going to happen upon success someday. You’re more likely to find a pot of gold on your driveway tomorrow morning than you are to find success, ‘Somewhere Over the Rainbow’.

• OPPORTUNITY EQUALS SUCCESS

People who hold this common misconception think, ‘If I could just get one big break, then I’d be on my road to success’! They’re waiting for the right opportunity to fall into their laps, the big break that will change their lives forever.

• SUCCESS IS NOT AN EVENT

It’s an ongoing process we engage in, time and time again. Aristotle says it in a profound way, “Anyone can succeed once or twice. And anyone can fail or lose a battle or two along the way. What we must focus on is the habit of excellence; practicing success repeatedly, day after day”.

• SUCCESS KEY TO LEADERSHIP

Success can be defined as the progressive realization of a predetermined goal. This definition tells us that the discipline to prioritize and the ability to work toward a stated goal are essential to a leader’s success. In fact, I believe they are the keys to leadership.

• SLUMPED SALLY- REKINDLING THE FLAME OF SUCCESS (1)

Before Sally can be an effective member of the team, she needs to get her attitude right. You don’t want her negative attitude and depression spreading to other people in your company. Separate her from others and couch her one-on-one until is she ready to work in a team as a team player.

• SLUMPED SALLY- REKINDLING THE FLAME OF SUCCESS (2)

Sally needs to make progress. The best way to raise her morale is to get a few wins under her belt. As her coach, put her in a position to win. Encourage her strengths. Arrange her workload so she has an opportunity to succeed.

• SLUMPED SALLY – REKINDLING THE FLAME OF SUCCESS (3)

Put Sally in a position where she knows the importance of he role. And make sure she majors on the major things. Let her know that the project won’t get done without her. Sally needs to be in a vital area of the company in order to be stretched and motivated.

• SLUMPED SALLY – REKINDLING THE FLAME OF SUCCESS (4)

Encourage Sally. Build up her confidence. Commend her publicly and privately when she succeeds. Sally needs you to be her cheerleader as well as her coach.

• SUCCESS IS THE RESULT OF HARD WORK

Working hard means looking inside, seeing what’s there, and changing any problem thinking to right thinking. Success is not an accident. It’s something you work hard to achieve.

• BELIEVE OUR ABILITY

Those who believe in our ability do more than stimulate us. They create an atmosphere in which it becomes easier to succeed. When a leader does not believe in us, success is very difficult for us to achieve. It becomes nearly impossible.

• BUSYNESS IS NOT AN ACCURATE INDICATOR OF SUCCESS

Some people work like crazy and never accomplish anything. Past success is a key predictor of future success. What have I accomplished that I am proud of? Did those accomplishments include others? How does my experience relate to what I need today? Am I willing to put forth the effort again?

• THINKER VS. DOER

Someone once told me that the world has two kinds of people; thinkers and doers. They said, ‘the thinkers needs to do more and the doers need to think more’. I have always tried to do both, reflect and act. When I have combined the two, I have greatly reduced the odds of failure.

EFFECT OF CHANGE

• DON’T RUN TO CHALLENGES

Change means trying new things and that can be scary. Fear makes some people avoid change. How do you react when you’re faced with something new? Do you take on the challenge, or do you run from it?

• SPENDING TIME WITH PEOPLE FOR POSITIVE CHANGE

Your key people must have a degree of influence with the rest of your people. Otherwise, they will have trouble leading others to carry out the tasks before them. Make sure you’re spending time with the people who will help you inspire positive change in your organization.

• MAKES YOU THINK DIFFERENTLY

Think about it. We all have comfortable routines and habits, and people don’t like to be told to change the way they do things. Some people avoid change because it makes them think differently and act in ways that are uncomfortable.

• RESISTANCE TO CHANGE

I have spent much time observing why and when people start resisting change. Some strive until they are comfortable, then settle in and don’t want to grow. For most, a negative experience has made them pull back and say never again.

• RIGHT AMOUNT OF CHANGE CAN STRENTHEN US

Even when people realize that change is inevitable, they respond differently to its challenges. Some retreat into their emotional and spiritual bomb shelters and refuse to become a part of the action. Still, the right amount of change can strengthen us.

• DON’T RUN AWAY FROM THE CHALLENGES OF CHANGE

You and I enjoy our little nests, and we have worked hard to build them. This explains why we resent it when God starts to ‘shake up’ the nest. God wants us to grow. Not everybody who grows old grows up, and those who fail to grow up are often the ones who have run away from the challenges of change.

• HAVE THE DESIRE TO CHANGE

No choice will determine the success of your attitude change more than desiring to change. Many people have climbed over insurmountable obstacles to make themselves better people when they realized that change is possible.

• OPEN TO CHANGE TO CREATE NEW PARADIGMS

I don’t want to remind you that we live in a world of fast-paced change. We laugh at the fact that the US Patent Office nearly closed down toward the end of the 19th Century, because many felt that nothing new could be invented. Those who lead the pack today are those who are not only open to change but to the new paradigms whole new ways of looking at established facts.

• A LEADER MUST BE A ENVIRONMENTAL CHANGE AGENT

The leaders in any organization must be the environmental change agents. They must be more like thermostats than thermometers. At first glance, a person could confuse these instruments. Both are capable of measuring heat. However, they’re quite different.

• MOMENTUM IS A GREAT CHANGE AGENT

With momentum, leaders look better than they actually are. With momentum, followers increase their performance. Without momentum, leaders look worse than they actually are. Without momentum, followers decrease their performance. Momentum is the greatest change agents.

• CHANGE YOUR THOUGHT PATTERNS

That which holds our attention determines our action. We are where we are and what we are because of the dominating thought that occupy our minds.

• CHANGE CONTINUALLY TO LEAD BETTER

If you want to lead, you have to continue to change. Once you’ve learned how hard it can be to change yourself, then you’ll understand that it can be just as hard to get your followers to change.

• CHANGE MAKES YOU THINK DIFFERENTLY

Think about it. We all have comfortable routines ad habits, and people don’t like to be told to change the way they do things. Some people avoid change because it makes them think differently and act in ways that are uncomfortable.

• UNDERSTAND CHANGE BETTER TO CHANGE

Change is especially hard when you don’t understand why things have to change. Some people avoid change because they don’t understand it.

• DON’T BE AFRAID TO MAKE MISTAKE TO CHANGE

I’m not perfect. You know! Of course you’re not! None of us is. Everybody makes mistakes, even the smartest people in the world. The worst mistake you can make is to be afraid of making a mistake because if you don’t try new things, you’ll never change.

• PERSUADE: POWER TO CHANGE

Leaders have 2 characteristics; First, they are going somewhere, second, they are able to persuade other people to change and go with them. Jesus is a great of that kind of leader. All of His Disciples had jobs and family commitments when they meet Him. But Jesus was able to persuade to change what they were doing to follow Him.

• ACCEPT MISTAKE TO CHANGE

A good leader will always admit when she or he is wrong. Watch how fast your followers run if you make a mistake and don’t admit it. As I said before, we all make mistakes. If you’re afraid of making mistake, you’ll never change, neither will your followers.

• CHANGE IS HARD: EVERYONE HAS TO FEEL IT’S WORTH

A good leader will be honest with his/her followers about what’s going on, and she’ll/he’ll give them time to think about what’s going to change. We all need to think about what change will mean to us. Change isn’t a easy thing to do, and everyone has to feel it’s worth.

• APPLICATION

Musician Bruce Springsteen offered this insight; A time comes when you need to stop waiting for the man you want to become and start being the man you want to be. In other words, you need to apply what you’ve learned. Your goal is to keep learning so that you want to change for the better everyday.
